QA Engineer
Enable smarter use of energy, at scale.
We usually respond within two weeks
We're at a pivotal moment for both Tibber and the planet. When joining Tibber, you won’t just help scale a forward-thinking tech company – you’ll contribute to a real shift in how people consume electricity. With millions of smart devices connected to the Tibber platform (like electric vehicles and smart thermostats), we have one of the most unique energy trading portfolios on the market.
We’re looking for a QA Engineer to join us in making the energy transition happen – maybe that’s you?
Job Mission 🚀
As a Quality Engineer at Tibber, you won’t just be finding bugs; you’ll help build the machinery that prevents them. You will play a pivotal role in designing the technical infrastructure and cultural frameworks that allow Tibber to scale without friction.
Your goal is to ensure our engineers have the tools, environments, and automated workflows needed to ship world-class software with confidence. You aren't a gatekeeper, you are an accelerator. With a strong focus on the overlap of quality and developer experience, you will help our teams stay productive, even as complexity grows.
What you'll do ✅
Strategise & Influence: Work closely with engineering leadership to identify high-impact areas and ensure quality efforts are focused where they matter most.
Architect Test Environments: Own and evolve our test environments in collaboration with engineering teams, ensuring they are stable, reproducible, and scalable.
Build the Foundation: Collaborate with the Cloud Platform and DevEx team to build quality support systems that scale across a distributed architecture.
Full-Stack Automation: Design and maintain automated testing frameworks that support our diverse ecosystem - from high-throughput backends and GraphQL schemas to web frontends and native mobile apps.
Preach the Quality Gospel: Actively mentor engineers and leaders to instill a "Shift Left" mindset. You’ll help teams establish the standards and metrics needed to own quality throughout the entire development cycle.
What we're looking for⚡
You are driven by impact and used to fast-paced environments, and you thrive when given clear goals and high accountability. The areas below summarises our ideal candidate:
The Polyglot Mindset: You are comfortable jumping into different codebases. Whether it's a microservice in .NET or a mobile component in Swift, you can understand the logic and work with the engineers to find the best ways to test it.
CI/CD Native: You have deep experience with CI/CD technologies and understand how infrastructure supports (or hinders) quality.
The Evangelist: You love teaching others and bridging the gap between technical excellence and business impact. You can convince a busy developer that a robust integration test today saves a weekend of on-call duty, but you can just as easily articulate the ROI of quality to a PM or business stakeholder.
The Self-Starter: You have the autonomy to identify gaps and the initiative to close them. You don't wait for a ticket; you see a bottleneck and you build a bypass.
The Orchestrator: You are your own best Project Manager. You know how to break down complex architectural goals - like migrating a test suite or spinning up a new staging environment - into actionable milestones. You can manage your own backlog, prioritize ruthlessly based on business risk, and keep stakeholders informed without needing a PM to tail you. You don’t just start projects; you drive them to the finish line.
The Quality Scientist: You don’t guess; you hypothesise, test, and measure. You are obsessed with observability and data - not just for production uptime, service performance or where we find bugs, but as a "microscope" into the health of our output. You have a natural curiosity for identifying new ways to measure quality and impact, turning "technical hunches" into hard, reproducible data.
💆🏻♀️💆🏽♂️The Tibber Mindset
Tibber is not your typical energy supplier. Our tech helps hundreds of thousands of households lower and shift their energy consumption to more sustainable and affordable hours. We’re here to accelerate the energy transition – not in theory, but in everyday life.
Being on a mission to change an industry, fundamentally also means being prepared for the unexpected. We do what others say can’t be done, try and fail together but never lose sight of our users. We work passionately with sustainability and a circular approach, both with our own products and in the entire ecosystem that is affected by everything we do.
Starting out with two passionate founders in 2016, we're now 300+ people working for Tibber in our offices in Stockholm, Førde, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Oslo. We will continue to grow within our markets, and we are thrilled to be backed by investors like Balderton Capital, Eight Roads Ventures, Founders Fund, Summa, and Schibsted.
Diversity of thought fuels better products, so we welcome applicants of every background, identity and lived experience. Ready to be part of powering the energy transition? Apply below!
